History

The business commenced in 1974, when George and Andrea Costi began retailing at Paddys Market in Sydney N.S.W. on the weekends.

Kingsford Seafoods was established in 1975 a retail store selling fresh seafood products trading 5 1/2 days a week.

De Costi Seafoods was established in 1981 at the Sydney Fish Markets in Pyrmont. This was a joint venture between George and Andrea Costi and Harry and Helen Demetriou .

This business became one of the largest seafood retailer in the Southern Hemisphere .Quality and customer service was the foundation for its success.George and Andrea bought out Harry and Helen Demetriou in 1994.

In 1994 De Costi Seafoods (Holdings) Pty Ltd had commenced trading.From a sole Pyrmont operation the company had delivered rapid growth in the past 4 years.

In 1998 De Costi Seafoods introduced and implemented quality systems in HACCP & ISO 9001-2000 and gained accreditation.

The first of a number of stores outside the Fish Market was opened in Broadway in 1999 This store was managed and successfully operated by the oldest son of George and Andrea, Con Costi .

In the year 2000 the business was reaching its production capacity at the Pyrmont store, as it supplied retail stores supermarkets and restaurants all over Sydney .
The Copmany purchased a 6,000 sq metres situated at Lidcombe . The large facility was to cater for production  needs to meet customer demand.

In 2002 the company direction was to further expand by introducing a franchise offer and company seafood stores . The stores were successfully launched within 4 years and were managed by the Costi children, as they had retail expertise since their working days at the Pyrmont Store. Managing stores Con Costi together with Nicholas Costi, youngest son and daughters Renae Costi, Natalie Costi In administration as well as Elliann Costi in marketing and management . Elliann also had overseen the marketing for the De Costi brand and had gained  business marketing Awards and recognition for innovation in the seafood industry.

In 2004 The business had to build an infrustracture to cope with the increase business including its accounting department which was supported by directors and Costi family members
Elliann, Natalie, Renae  Costi , CFO and the accounting team.

2010 De Costi  management together with Con Costi had been at the forefront of the planning and implementing of large production upgrades which was completed by 2013 at the Lidcombe production facility.

The De Costi management team have years of seafood expertise and are exceptional team leaders. The team strives particular focus on customer requirements and supplier relationships.

Approx 200 De Costi employees operate the state of the art facility as it gears up for further growth.
